Today I had an enlightenment at church that I didn't want to hear, but needed to at the same time. I am the mother to "That child" yes the child who upsets others in his noisy and wild ways. But what are we to do? There are many options to us:
- Leave the church until he is older
- Go to mass seperately so that one can go to mass and one can care for Thomas.
- Keep taking him in the hopes that one day he will get better and it will just all "click" for him.
- Change parishes to one that is not full of old fuddy duddies that have no clue about raising an active boy.
These are all options, some a good ones, some are not good.
We could just go when Thomas is having a "good" day, but really most days we don't know how he is going to be until we get there. Today we were worried that it was going to be a repeate performance from the previous sunday as he was FERAL at home. But he was the oposite. we sat in the normal spot. He read a book he choose to bring and played with his little peoples bus as well as coloured in his "church" activity pad. He did try and run off twice but both times others helped in brining him back to us. (a bit hard when us parent are boxed in.) But other than those two times he was excellent. So lets hope it is a change we like.
Oh what we did differently was not give him strawberry jam on toast. Just vegiemite, and no sugary cereal. I think we will be going back to plain wheet bix and or porriage very soon.
