Ok so our wonderful, kind and gentle Fr Bob is back, rested and on board. We had a chat about fertility treatments yesterday evening, which will be a many part series as Fr Bob is going to do his research and help us come to a decision that our concious self can come to terms with and the battle with in can come to a resolution that physical and spirtral self can be a peace with.
Now here comes the trick. Finding a Dr who will work with us. On the table right now, is IVF, and tradionally with IVF you have many many eggs collected and fertilised. Than the best one or two implanted 2-3 days later. And the rest are frozen and stored if they make it. This where the vatican has issues. It is the respect and handling of these embrios. Has each fertilised egg is considered a life.
What we are thinking, is if we can find a Dr who will only mildly stimulate me (a bit more than for IUI) and then take what eggs are there and fertilise only two and implant them back. If there are eggs left, possibly store them. Will we ever actually get there. who knows. We know it could take more than one round of this. But it will come down to finances, spirtral convictions and finding a Dr who is willing to work with us.

ReplyDeleteI'm not very up to date with religious rules, however is it possible to stimulate all the eggs possible, and then only inseminate the chosen amount, leaving the other eggs frozen without semen? Then at least they are still separate cells.

I do believe it is possible from what I have read through ACCESS articles, just not many clinics do it or offer it. We will just have to wait and see.
